Vale let goalkeeper leave on loan
Port Vale goalkeeper Sam Johnson has joined FC Halifax Town on loan until the 2nd January.
The youngster has dropped to third choice goalkeeper after the signing of Jak Alnwick and the return from injury of Chris Neal.

Johnson was widely expected to start the season as first-choice when Chris Neal suffered a long-term injury. But a number of errors during pre-season friendlies saw Rob Page sign Jak Alnwick who has been ever-present in Neal’s absence.
Johnson’s future at the club may be in some doubt as his contract runs out in the summer. Alnwick has now signed a new long-term deal, Neal is still highly regarded and youngster Ryan Boot shows promise.
Page told the official Port Vale website: “We’re blessed at this football club with a crop of very talented goalkeepers and it’s important each of them can be given the chance to show what they can do by playing games.
“We feel this is the best possible way for Sam to continue his development.”
