Rumour: Peterborough to beat Vale to Coulibaly signature?
HITC Sport claims that Peterborough United are set to sign striker Soulimane Coulibaly despite interest in the forward from Port Vale.
The forward, who was also on trial at Crewe Alexandra is set to sign a contract with Posh, the website claims.
Barry Fry has opened talks regarding a permanent deal for the young Ivorian…
According to HITC Sport “Peterborough United are set to snatch Souleymane Coulibaly from under the noses of a host of clubs, HITC Sport understands. Crewe Alexandra and rivals Port Vale had been leading the chase for the former Tottenham Hotspur prospect, who has set his sights on a move back to England to kick-start his career.
“It is believed Coulibaly is tempted by a move to London Road, given their record of developing young talent… HITC Sport understands that Peterborough’s director of football Barry Fry has opened talks regarding a permanent deal for the young Ivorian.”
The Valiants are apparently still keen to add another forward to their ranks with AJ Leitch-Smith still on trial with Vale. If Coulibaly is out of reach and finances allow, Rob Page may now be tempted to move for Leitch-Smith. The forward is still under contract at Yeovil but the West Country club will allow him to leave if another club takes over his contract.
Vale do have options upfront even if Leitch-Smith doesn’t join. The contenders for a place upfront include Louis Dodds, Uche Ikpeazu, Achille Campion, Colin Daniel, Enoch Andoh and youngster Jonathan Kapend.
