Former Valiants: Adams misses out on Crawley job

League One side Crawley have appointed Mark Yates as their new manager in preference to a former Vale boss.

Press reports indicated that Micky Adams was one of the favourites for the role, but the Sussex side opted for former Cheltenham boss Mark Yates instead.

Meanwhile, former Vale loanee Peter Clarke is one of SEVENTEEN players released by relegated Championship side Blackpool.

Former Port Vale midfielder Scott Brown, who played for Grimsby in their Conference play-off final defeat to Bristol Rovers, has been offered a new deal by the Mariners.

Another former midfielder Steve Jennings has agreed a one-year deal with relegated Tranmere Rovers.
