Dickinson is new Vale captain
Port Vale FC have announced that defender Carl Dickinson will be the club’s captain for the 2014-15 season.
Dickinson takes over from Doug Loft, who departed the club in the summer. The left-back has made 47 appearances for the club and is one of the first names on the teamsheet.
Manager Micky Adams told the official Port Vale website: “There was a few contenders for the decision and I had to think long and hard about it.
“However, I’ve given it to Carl not only because of his attitude to the games, but also because of the way he conducts himself in and around the place and what he does on the training pitch.”
27 year-old Dickinson is a hugely popular figure on the terraces due to his wholehearted performances and he won Micky Adams’ vote ahead of other contenders Tom Pope and Richard Duffy.
