Vale ‘in talks’ to sign O’Connor
Manager Micky Adams says the club have begun talks to sign on-trial midfielder Michael O’Connor.
Adams told the media that O’Connor was left out of the side to face Alsager because of his location, commenting: “Michael lives in Lincoln and we didn’t want to drag him all the way over here for a 45-minute work out. The chairman is in discussions with his agent and we will see how we go.
“Norman has pulled off some deals this year, and some he hasn’t quite. But I will leave it to Norman. I think he is a good negotiator and he will try his best. Until he tells me that the deal is dead then I will believe that we still have a chance.”
The signing of O’Connor would be a sizeable boost to the Valiants who have lost central midfielders Doug Loft, Billy Knott and Anthony Griffith since the end of last season.
