This feature contains rumour and speculation. All of these rumours should be treated as unconfirmed gossip until any move is officially announced by the club itself. Mohamed has been unsettled at Vale Park since arriving last summer. He played just eight times for the club last season after spending time on loan at AFC Wimbledon and Bristol Rovers.
Earlier this summer, the Sentinel revealed that Mohamed was about to leave the club if a settlement could be reached over the last 12 months of his contract. However, as talks on that broke down, the paper suggested that he “is likely to be sent out on loan again at the start of next term.”
Now, the Northampton Chronicle reports that “talks are at an advanced stage over a season-long loan deal for an experienced left-sided midfielder from a Sky Bet League One club, who will bring ‘pace and power’ to the squad.” – a description that appears to perfectly suit Mohamed.
The paper added: “It is understood the player in question could be confirmed as a Northampton player by as early as Thursday afternoon.”
Mohamed’s season stats
Port Vale: 3+5 games, no goals
AFC Wimbledon: 5 games, no goals
Bristol Rovers: 20+1 games, 4 goals
