Duffy suffers twisted ankle
Defender Richard Duffy has reportedly sustained a “twisted ankle” during Vale’s game with Plymouth but it is uncertain just how long the defender will be ruled out of action.
The length of Duffy’s absence will probably determine whether manager Micky Adams talks to owner Norman Smurthwaite about any January additions to the squad.
Vale’s defence noticeably struggled after the absence of Duffy and Vale, still missing the injured Dan Jones, are looking short of numbers in defence.
Adams has made no secret of his wish for another defender and if Duffy is ruled out for some time it is not inconceivable that some of the wages saved by the sale of Lee Hughes could be put to that use.
