The Sentinel newspaper says that Vale are one of several clubs to express interest in former Macclesfield Town defender Thierry Audel.

The 26-year-old centre-half is out of contract after impressing during a short spell with non-league Macclesfield Town last season.
According to the players agent: “Port Vale have been showing a strong interest in Thierry.
“They were asking about him before the end of the season and they have been in touch again.
“But they’re not the only ones who’d like to sign him.
“Crewe Alexandra have watched him two or three times and they are also interested, while we’ve had contact from Notts County and Luton Town too.
“He’s a bit like a cross between (Manchester United defenders) Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic.
“He’s good enough to play at Championship level at least and he’d certainly be good enough for League One.” *
