Rigg: Former club Vale ‘deserve’ promotion
Sean Rigg has told the Oxford Mail that his former club Port Vale deserve promotion but he has “no regrets” about his summer switch to Oxford United.
I think they are a few wins away from going up and they’ve deserved it because they have been consistent…
Rigg will face his former colleagues on Saturday after he was one of three high profile players to depart Vale Park in the summer.
Rigg told the newspaper: “I don’t think you should have any regrets, you make a decision at the time and that’s the right decision.
“I’ve got no regrets, it’s good to see them doing well and fair play to them, but I’m happy to be here and Oxford’s a good club.
“There was a point where we went a couple of months without being paid and obviously last season we were in administration.
“It goes to show it can quickly change, they’re second in the league and have a bit of money behind them.
“I think they are a few wins away from going up and they’ve deserved it because they have been consistent.
“It will be good to come up against them again, I’ve had a bit of banter with a few of them this week, I’m looking forward to it.”
