Pitch battle: Vale appeal for volunteers
Port Vale will call on fans to help them battle the bad weather and try to stop Saturday’s game against Bradford City becoming a victim of the snowy conditions.
Vale were assisted in their efforts by hire firm Andrews Sykes Ltd, who brought two industrial blowers to Vale Park in an attempt to defrost the pitch.
A tweet from co-owner Paul Wildes said: “A big thank you to Steve Speed and his staff working through the night today and tomorrow so that we can watch a game on Saturday.”
He later added: “We will need some help tomorrow to clear snow so if anyone has spare time and a wheelbarrow stand by for further instructions in the morning.”
OVF will publicise any appeals from the club when we receive them.
