Former Valiant Brooker joins Buxton

Evo-Stik League Premier Division club Buxton have signed ex-Port Vale forward Steve Brooker.

Initially signed on loan in 2001, the powerfully-built left-footed striker soon moved from Watford to Port Vale on a permanent basis for a fee of £15,000.

The muscular forward scored the winning goal in the 2001 LDV Trophy Final and after 151 games and 40 goals, he was sold to Bristol City for £250,000 in 2004.

Brooker then had loan spells at Cheltenham and Doncaster before joining Rovers permanently in 2009. But after suffering from injuries he was released on a free transfer in 2011.
