Adams: Everything we wanted
Micky Adams hailed his side’s finishing power after the 5-2 away victory over Fleetwood Town and said that the game was “everything we wanted it to be.”
It was everything we wanted it to be. I didn’t expect it and we certainly had to work hard for it.
Adams told the media:
“With the players we’ve got and even the ones we have on the bench, we are always going to attack teams and it’s paying off at the moment.
“We have four very attack-minded players, in Jennison Myrie-Williams, Ashley Vincent, Tom Pope and Louis Dodds, but we don’t take it lightly. We work very hard on doing the right things in the right areas and when we do that, we can cause teams problems.
“Sometimes we can leave ourselves a bit open at the back playing like we do. But we are certainly doing things right at the moment.
“It was everything we wanted it to be. I didn’t expect it and we certainly had to work hard for it.
“They’re a good side and at certain stages I didn’t feel that comfortable. If we are within a few points of them at the end of the season, I think we’ll have done ok.
“But we did really well on the night. It was a match between two teams in good form and we came out on top. We scored some excellent goals in what was a great game.
“Every time we went forward, we looked like we would cause Fleetwood problems and it was definitely our attacking play, rather than our defending, which got us through.
“Vincent was at it from the first whistle, causing them problems all night, while Pope and Dodds scored some great goals. They need that and it will breed confidence.”
