Regarded as one of Port Vale FC’s greatest-ever players, Earle was originally a forward, making his first-team debut in 1982, before being converted into a midfielder by manager John Rudge.
He made over 250 appearances for the club and was present during three of the club’s promotion seasons before he was transferred to top-flight club Wimbledon for a £775,000 fee in 1991.
He went on to represent his country, Jamaica at the World Cup finals in 1998. He was awarded an MBE in 1999.
