The fourth division is an odd one because there are 4 promotion places. Normally there are 3/2 from most leagues so obviously there are Champions(Trophy for the team and medals for players) and Runners up(the team get medals). Then the playoffs winners get a Trophy and medals.

 

It's sad if there's nothing, the club ought to get a shield or something just to signify a promotion as it doesn't happen to clubs every year so it's still an achievement. Basically the 4th promoted gets something and when all is said and done they could have finished 7th!!

 

As I've said though, it's an odd system I can't think of too many leagues or other sports where there are 4 promotion places(with a playoff system). Fair enough before the days of the playoffs 3rd or 3rd and 4th were promoted but probably didn't get anything like a cup/medals.

 

When you look back a lot of Vale's promotions have been 3rd or 4th though. Apart from our two championships in 53/54 and 58/59. 88/89 was playoffs, did we get anything then? and I assume the 93/94 squad got runners up medals?

Teams usually gets something to put in the trophy cabinet. Even if its a small shield.
