Respect what Richards did while he was here but wouldn't want him in a Vale shirt again. Too injury prone for my liking.

Spot on, he was outastanding for us and the fans that gave him such vile abuse are intellectually challeneged / boarding thick or just pure morons.

My only criticism of Rico yesterday was the way help kept rolling around obviously trying to con the very poor referee. When he went off I think it was his fifth attack of the 'Italian theatricals'.

That said I do wish the guy well as he is a good player at this level and a nice bloke.

Yes but it appeared to me that the initial shot was going wide. Neal made an unnecessary save and parried the ball for Richards to follow up and score from a tight angle.

Fans forget that players rarely have the same affinity for a club that they do and they will always give stick to someone who hasn't moved up a division but has stayed in the same. Richards had five years at the Vale and got offered a deal that at least doubled his money and let's be honest, if at the beginning of the season someone had said that the Chesterfield-Vale match would feature one team in the automatic promotion places and one with an outside chance of the play offs, not many of us would have thought it would be the Burslem Boys in second.

Top bloke, cracking player (for us, at least) loved Rico at the Vale I did, gutted when he left and I think he was gutted he had to leave (he was always going to leave a club in admin for a club paying him 3/4k a week) for reasons of safeguarding his family. We've moved on, he's moved on, we're better without him.

 

Still, I'd welcome him back as a coach or something once he retires...

Good player, probably played better than he has of late yesterday mind, lucky first goal, great finish for second but fair play for not celebrating would have been easy to cup his ears at us or something but the boy has a bit of Vale in him through family too.

 

Bit annoyed he went down like a sack of spuds every time he was touched mind!

 

He went, we changed our style and his successor has been freed up and scored 31 goals for us this season, worked out great for us, bar his bank balance not so good for him footballing wise so no hard feelings should be had now. I'm sure he is regretting leaving us more than we are losing him.

He's a pro footballer end of, he will play for whoever pays him the most, thats just how it is
