He openly admits to being a fascist and that it was a 'salute to his people'. He also did it while mussolinis daughter/niece (?) (he has 'Dux' tattooed on his arm) was in attendance, which she praised.

Di Canio is a self confessed fascist (not a racist apparently!) and has done the nazi saute on numerous occasions; to his own fans when he was playing for Lazio (notoriously right wing fans) to Roma fans and to the left leaning, socialist club Livorno. He also has a tattoo honouring Mussolini on his arm.

 

This has been a hot topic on many football forums since his arrival in the UK and more so since he was a manager of Swindon. Many STFC sponsors pulled out when he became manager as is what's happening at Sunderland so I gather.

I see di Canio has issued a statement that he is not a supporter of a fascist ideology...I don't doubt his honesty in making that statement and yet it seems a very carefully chosen phrase

Not sure where lost came from...it was on my phone...though im afraid its you who doesn't understand...which you seem to be obsessed with. My post, before you bizarrely disected it was not meant to be serious, was so obviously tongue in cheek and meant to be ridiculous. That was the point.
