Go back to plan a

The last time I saw Vale play really well was the away game at Rotherham. This was the team:

01 Neal

02 Yates

05 McCombe

24 Duffy

25 Chilvers

07 Loft

09 Myrie-Williams (Taylor - 87' )

18 Morsy

23 Burge

08 Dodds (Andrew - 78' )

11 Pope

I think Vincent must have been suspended. The new signings have done nothing to enhance that team. Jones has his good points, but hasn't led to a single goal apart from the one he scored himself. Taylor may have his faults as a full back, but we could see tonight what a good crosser of a ball he is. That's not to mention how well Yates played when he was switched to left back. Loft was better, because he was playing on the left. Pope knew what his role was.

The treatment of Morsy appears a little strange (or perhaps it doesn't).

We have to pick Lee Hughes 4 goals in 6 and a bit games.

We simply are taking too long to get the ball cross - the wingers turn back, play it to the full back, who does a short pass inside to Burge, who turns backwards and plays it to the centre half who then gives it back to Burge who puts a ball into the middle from deep after ensuring that the opposition have the penalty box packed and at least two or three men on Pope..

Are you seriously suggesting we drop purse and jones? Did you see how poor mccombe was today? Purse was more comfortable on his own. If it wasn't for him we would have lost more games since he came. To suggest we have lost those because of them is just pure nonsense from someone who suggested we should only bring in new players who were not good enough to get in the team. And although it was a good win, it wasn't a particularly good performance as a team. But it fits the nonsense theory about our new players.

the nonsense theory about our new players.

So if the new players haven't led to the drop in form and scoring, what has? Is it just coincidence?

At Rotherham, we created two great goals from flowing football. Flowing football. Now when did we last see that?

And when did I say "from someone who suggested we should only bring in new players who were not good enough to get in the team"?

I agree in saying go back to plan A, but Purse and Jones have massively improved our defence, two brilliant players.

I don't think Hughes is fully fit at the moment, Dave. He has been ill for the last few days and I suspect he would not have come on if Williamson had been available. And we won on Saturday without him! ;)

Im a big supporter of hughes, his goal record in his past is immense and has started excellent here, im just not so sure hes helped the team. Id much prefer to see Dodds and Pope play together at Oxford personally.

At the present moment in time we need the 'old head' in front of goal and my concern of Dodds is that he disappears in games - much prefer to see him as an impact sub.

I have to agree that if we need a goal I'd rather see Dodds come on before Williamson or Andrew as he is a more clinical finisher.
