Bill Bell - RIP

I've known Bill for a long time and yeah, his blood was black and white. I knew he was really poorly but it's still a shock that he's passed away today.

 

There could only every be one Bill Bell...a gentleman Condolences to his family and many close friends.

What do you mean by that? Are you suggesting that those of us who, how can I put it, 'didn't like' Bill Bell should come on here and start criticising him?

It was his club and he did what he liked with it. I think when he left a lot of people hated him for running the club down, however they soon realised that what came next was far worse.

Was brought up on Billy Bell and it was under his guidance my love affair with Port Vale was started...

 

Great idea to re name the Lorne Street as a lasting tribute to him..

RIP Bill Bell, he was guardian over the best times we have ever had at Vale Park. Hope he gets a just and deserved send off from VP. He definately deserves some tribute, the clock will live on forever!

 

He backed John Rudge when he needed the funds just a shame a shadow was cast towards the end of his tenure. They both deserved better.

As some of you are aware I have posted many threads about bill bell and my belief that he was the best chairman in our history most have attempted to shoot me down in flames largely due to rumours.

Now is clearly not the time to re enter that debate.

We need to find a fitting send off to the man at the helm during our proudest years. Black arm bands and applause are not significant enough for bill.

Thanks for the years you gave us bill thanks for the teams you allowed us to sign.

Wish our fans had found it in their hearts to recognise the work you did and welcome you back to vale park as we now have rudge.

Terrible news. Most succesful chairman in the clubs history, had his faults be he will be remembered fondly by me and other Vale fans who enjoyed many happy days in the 80s and 90s.

Thanks for the special times. Personal fond memories under your tenure like the Wembley visits, taking League and FA Cup Winners Arsenal to a replay/Penalties and the last ever derby game at the old Victoria Ground won't be forgotten.
