Goalkeeper Stuart Sharratt

Hi everyone. I am a new member and follow the fortunes of Port Vale with longstanding interest. I originally lived in Leek and, in the late 50's, used to regularly catch a Byrne's bus from Leek to the home games.

My good friend at school was Stuart Sharratt. Stuart at that time was always destined to be a natural sportsman. He had the strength, eye and ability to be good at any ball game whether it be tennis, golf or his chosen sport of football.

I was sad to read an entry on onevalefan that Stuart was seriously ill. I would be grateful if any member who remembers Stuart's career at the Vale could reply and let me know how he is now?

Regards to all

Vernon Turner

Stuart's family home was along the Ashbourne Rd out of Leek. His father ran a building company, Sharratt Brothers. John Sharratt, Stuart Sharratt and younger brother Mick Sharratt. Stuart never interested in construction. Devoted to sport and gave his all to Port Vale.
