Some of those on The Oatcake dont know their **** from their elbow mate and really have no idea as to the type of player Pulis deals in.

I don't think he would but you look at the likes of Holt, Morrison and Lambert and the same would have been said when they were at this level.

I beg to differ, Walters is a lower league player. Who was the clown on the Oatcake saying Walters would score 170 odd goals in our league. Some Stoke fans forget that he played in this league and was far from prolific.

He was getting pelters on here last season.....fair play to the lad for coming through it but cmon mate see it for what it is at this moment in time

He was Championship yes which is lower league to Premiership. Am I not correct, and before that he was a non prolific player in this exact league. Not been prolific at any team he has been to, just like Pope. Apart from Popey is proving all his doubters wrong, you only have to watch him this season he has worked hard and is reaping the rewards. His finishing, heading, workrate and all over gameplay is fantastic. The only thing he is missing out on is pace, but a lot of strikers in the prem prove you dont need pace.

Having improved his fitness and motivation, and now has the benefit of much better support from wingers, he is showing his capabilities, there is no reason why his form cannot continue until the end of the season. Most teams know how to contain the Vale, but dont always have the players to do so. Next season will be different, we will have to improve.

Walters spent season after season in the lower leagues, pretty much would have been described as a lower league journeyman.

 

He's a workhorse and gives his all, getting all he does out of his limited ability so full respect for that but you could add him to the other list with Holt, Morrison and Lambert.

Holt, Morrison and Lambert were consistent season after season. Walters wasnt though and he still ended up in the prem.

Fair point, those 3 were Walters wasn't, only when he went to Ipswich perhaps the better standard brought out the best in him?

 

I don't think he could cut it but there are recent examples of lower league scores who have proved they can score in the Prem.

 

It does show that he wasted some of the potentially better parts of his career with not showing the level of application he is now, perhaps he would be at a higher level like the examples above, then again if he would have applied himself throughout he wouldn't be with us :D
