Poor standard of moderating tonight

While I appreciate that it was just one moderator, are we really at the point where we have one rule for one and one for another. A post swearing about Pete Williams was kept on. Another post which apparently contained a swear word defending Pete Williams was deleted "for swearing", to directly quote the moderator involved.

 

I know you pay to be moderators etc, but surely you need to be consistent across all posts? Deleting one but not another is just as poor as Oxford were tonight!

Was either post reported? Was one reported to the mods and one not reported?

How can you report a post that harshly gets deleted though?

 

My point wasn't that the other post didn't get deleted, it was that one post got deleted for swearing yet another one didn't, inconsistency. Neither should have been deleted, just moderated to hide the rude word. That's all.

I wont waste my time editing posts that breach the rules.... why should I rectify someones blatent breach... you may spend all your time clearing up ... thats your choice.

The other post did not get deleted because I didnt notice it.... if I had it would have been

Mark, firstly, as you know the admin team work as and when we can to help keep OVF running. We don't get paid, we're not perfect. All the admin team are individuals with individual thoughts. Yes, obviously that are posts that all of us would delete and equally there are going to be posts that are in a grey area and that's where the moderators own 'judgement' comes into it. I might find something offensive and delete it. Another member of the team might not and the post will stay. That's just how it is. In a perfect world all of the team would think and do the same thing but unfortunately we don't live in a perfect world.

 

You say just moderated to hide the word. I can tell you now that if we did that on every occassion we'd be sitting here all day. I'm quite surprised that you felt the need to create a thread on this. Surprised and disappointed. It would have been nice if you'd contacted Rob or any member of the admin team with your complaint. That's all.

Would you like to point out the swearing that wasnt deleted?.... the one criticising PW....
