Promotion Odds

Evens..........10-1..........40-1........... a million to one..............What relevance are the odds if the bet loses????????? The knowlegeable punter still has lost his/her stake and therefore their money.

But, as I have said already to all you very wise and clever punters who know everything about the world of gambling and hence are all extremely wealthy Vale fans, good luck with your esoteric, recondite knowledge.

Vale finish 7th, do a Crewe and go up. I'd like to think it's not beyond the realms of possibility. If the bookies gave us odds of 1000/1 to get promotion, you wouldn't stick any money on it?

The odds are 40-1 for us to win the league, not 40-1 to get promotion.

Now, your offer of a bet is 1000-1 to get promotion, which as you say could be top 3 or via the play-offs. That is more feasible. But if you were to ask me would I place a bet at 1000-1 for us to win the league, then the answer would still be no.

But yet again.........GOOD LUCK TO ANYONE.......YEA ANYONE.......THAT PLACES A BET ON US THAT COMES IN.

And please feel free to start another thread in May to let us all know how much you lost on Vale not winning the league.

*bangs head against brick wall*

Consider the long run, rather than the short run (ie. just one bet).

Ahhhhh.......a nefarious response.

I believe it is you my friend that is being somewhat myopic.

You wouldn't even have a quid on us at 1000-1 :0 most teams have a chance to go up in this league as we saw last season and other seasons. With the likes of Dagenham and Stevenage going up and crewe after a bad start to the season. At 40-1 it's worth a punt on each way; makes it even more interesting as well :) just don't put any money on barnet to go up ;)

Every other Saturday afternoon between August and May.

The cost of one home game, to "win" the chance of paying for a whole seasons worth of misery seems a rasonable punt,

but that is the masochist in me.:ninja: (closest I could get to a gimp mask.)

Really confused now....

I've stuck £12.50 on Vale to Win the league at 40/1 each way. £25 left my account - what would my winnings be if they won it/came second/third etc etc......

You would get 10/1 on the place, so 125, put it on vale get. Promoted at 10/1 that way includes play offs

That depends on the odds offered at each way, were they 1/3 1/4 or 1/5? You will get £12.50 on the nose at 40/1 and £12.50 on the place bet. If they win you will be laughing anyway!

If it is a 1/4 then you get £12.50 x 40 plus £12.50 x40/4 plus your stake back!
