Did he get 20 odd for Stockport few seasons ago?.

21 in 43 appearances, a good return, then dropped off again till he did ok for southend last season [ until his injury ]

i hope we sign him, only seen him tice but looked good both with and without the ball

I know Pope isn't the sharpest pencil in the case, but hopefully he's bright enough to realize that his goal-scoring record last season simply wasn't good enough without having it spelled out to him by others. With the chances he gets he should at least be looking to double his tally and then some.

If six new players sign (Smith/Chilvers/Bell/JMW/Ainsworth/Dickinson) that would be a squad of 22......

1st team:

..............................SMITH........................

YATES.........McCOOMBE......CHILVERS.....LOFT

JMW..........SHUKER.......BELL.......AINSWORTH

..................DICKINSON.....DODDS................

2nd team:

..........................JOHNSON.........................

JAMES.........McDONALD......OWEN........TAYLOR

HALDANE........MORSY..........BURGE........LLOYD

..............WILLIAMSON........POPE...................

If Davis and Thomlinson sign contract offers that is 24 players with perhaps just one more possible signing/loan player for a full squad of 25

although three are first year professional kids and Haldane and Burge have a big question mark over whether they will ever be fit and Owen seems to be a part-time player/coach/student.

The first team doesn't look all that bad really and could play 4/4/2 or 4/4/1/1 or even 4/2/3/1 or 4/1/4/1 and even 4/5/1.

Without the inexperienced kids (Johnson/Lloyd/Davis) and the slightly injury prone (Haldane/Burge/Owen) then the match day 18

would see a subs bench of; Thomlinson/McDonald/Taylor/James/Morsy/Williamson/Pope....so there is some sort of depth and cover in the squad.

The question is with one more possible signing/loan player should it be;

A) An experienced full-back who can play both left and right back and take Yates' place.

B) An experienced central midfielder as cover or possible starter

C) An experienced striker perhaps as player/coach because of the four listed above Pope and Williamson struggle to score.

Looks upper mid-table perhaps lower play-off spot depending on a good start and some loan players and signings in January

but not automatic......a lot depends on whether Adams can find his mojo.
