Well if Vale are offering that kind of wage it's a wonder we keep anybody!

As much as I agree footballers don't know they are born in someways compared to the work some of us do being able to play a sport professionally is a talent and should be rewarded to an extent(as it's a short career)!

It might be a tactic of Micky's to offer low money to players he doesn't rate.May'be that's why Rigg has gone to Oxford.Just a thought.

I don't think we should lump the two players together. Lloyd is a young lad who is trying to make the grade and should have aspirations to make the matchday 16. Unproven, and so probably worth around £250 a week just incase he develops into a first team player. On the other hand, Davis is already a first team player. He came into the side in a run of tough fixtures and handled himself fairly well. Obviously he still has some 'filling out' to do, and a teenager still has plenty to learn. However, where we stand he is probably our most saleable asset. Or atleast, he has the potential to command a decent fee. He's going to make mistakes (as we saw at Torquay against the experience of Rene Howe), and he shouldn't be expected to start week-in-week-out. Still, in a 50 game season, I'd expect him to be featuring in atleast 20 games given his progress to date. If he has been offered the terms that are seemingly common knowledge on here, then that's really annoying. Why shouldn't he be demanding a similar wage to McCombe and Macdonald? Neither of those players have any resale value and we know they're unlikely to improve beyond this level. Davis shouldn't be criticised for making a few 'demands'. If the Vale can't be bothered to look after one of our most prized assets then I wouldn't blame the young lad for going back to his dad at Crewe, where his talent will be protected and nurtured - a place where he'll be more likely to earn the big bucks in the future.

God there are some thick buggers on here!

No way he will only have been offered 150 quid! You can get more than that on the bins or working in Tesco! Plus it's completely derisory for a professional career even if only just at the beginning of it! it would also be breaking all sorts of minimum wage rules unless classed as an apprenticeship!

Daniel Lloyd-Weston was only on £150 a week when he first turned professional. That was the standard for graduates a few years ago, not sure if it's changed since then.
