I think everybody concerned with Port Vale needs a rest. But I hope Adams takes his mobile phone and laptop with him when he goes to top up his tan, because a lot of work needs to be done over the summer if were to achieve anything next season.

I'm sure Keith gave Micky the go ahead to speak to players recently and I'm sure he'll already have irons in the fire.

 

Micky Adams needs a holiday like everyone else but only has a short period to squeeze it in and I imagine quite a lot of players will also be on holiday themselves once the season ends, also not many players sign anyway until their contracts end which is usually in June.

You've got to agree that Micky's comments sort of counter the push to get more through the gates today. My reaction to reading it was, "Oh, OK" and made me feel slightly less enthusiastic about the day ahead. It's not going to put me off going, but to those part timers who need any excuse not to go then it could be the spark that lights the fire.

 

Also, if I'd been running the website I'd have edited the interview to remove those comments, as it is a little negative towards what the board have tried to do today. I certainly wouldn't have had it as the stories headline. Not very bright all round IMHO

 

That was exactly the way I was thinking - that really Vale need to sharpen up their PR and this might sometimes involve a bit more spin.

However.....credit where it is due for getting a performance out of the players today - perhaps his comments were part of a plan to make Oxford feel we would not bother much, and it didn't actually do Crewe a favour as they went into the playoffs under their own steam. I'm happy with today, and it was a decent crowd too.
