Richards turned down two moves

Why did he decide to stay? Does anyone know?

probably a practical decision as well.Would you want to move house and re-settle your family in this climate ? he has two young boys I think.

He lives in Rugeley so the only clubs that are closer than the Vale are Walsall or Burton. He's well thought of locally (according to my Brother who lives there) and his family are from that area too.

Hope he stays for a few years more and I echo the positive sentiments above.

In yet another move that proves the loyalty of King Rico ( © Brookersleftboot) to Port Vale, our captain chose to turn down moves to an unnamed League One club, and the six-fingered rentboys from Salop, choosing instead to stay and help Vale.

Maybe now the morons that still abuse him will finally see sense and lay off him. I won't hold my breath.

Is it loyalty or is it he don't want to move his family or live away from them.

he is guareenteed a first team slot at vale without having to work for it just a thought......

You don't get any brighter do you!

If you call banging in 20 goals a season not having to work for it you are totally and utterly deluded and beyond help.

I can only imagine you are either jealous, a WUM or attention seeking! :D

Just the sort of comment that saw Leon on his way, strikers are rare but we have lots? Lets see what happens in the Summer, are there many clubs within travelling of Rugeley?

I see what your point. Moving to Shrewsbury would be a huge upheaval and mean having to move miles away from his family.

Reading the Sentinal story it wasn't Rico who turned down the two chances of a move it was Bob Young, he felt that although he could've saved on Rico's wages and got in a loan fee, Rico's performances on the pitch were of more value. He did add that had Rico been pushing for a move things would be different.

Rico has had many opportunities to move. He is consistently our best player for many years. You can gauge something of his commitment by his response to fans at the end of games. In these days the qualities that Rico has shown are hard to find.

We all know that Vale legends are not necessarily the most gifted players. They are players who give their best, perform well, are committed to the club and fans. I am delighted that he is at Vale Park and very much hope that he will stay for a long time to come.

Anyone who abuses him really is living in cloud cuckoo land.

I wish we had another 10 just like him
