There was a special program on Radio 5, last night focusing on Rangers. It was stated, that prior to buying them Craig Whyte, had failed at 24 previous Business ventures, Quite staggering.

I heard that..some reporter who'd been investigating him for some time. And he commendted on the 'fit and proper person/due dillgence that the SPL or previous Rangers owners undertool' and how pathetic it was AND that he had failed to disclose his previous disqualification as a Director for 7 years.

Astonishing and indeed staggering

Wonder who the 6 players earning 600k/year and the one earning 1.8m/year are, just nuts.

The Gaydamack character is real dodgy, what a mess.

Long contracts given to Prem players kill clubs that are relegated, even with the parachute payments. The danger is that after a few years in the Prem, clubs think they are established and splash out to make the top 6, the players don`t gel and end up in trouble. Whereas Rangers could never be relegated, are always in Europe, and have the bulk of the TV money, so become financially reckless.

Got the impression that these were contracts struck post administration? Lawrence is likely to be one

It said 12 players, not 6, who are earning circa £11-12,000 per week going off the figures mentioned in the article. Ludicrous as you say.

Pompey are no strangers to living in a Fantasy world and living beyond their means. At the height of Gaydamak bankrolling them, they had the 4th highest wage bill in the Premier League! (The period just before Man City's billionaire owners came onto the scenes).

Rememer they had players like Lassana Diarra, Crouch, Defoe, Sol Campbell, Sulley Muntari, Lauren and Jon Utaka on the books. On gates of only 20,000 fans per week. It was always going to go bump for Pompey once Gaydamak stoppped pumping his millions into the club.

The other interesting piece of the article on Pompey is the money owed to previous owners. Just makes you wonder what the terms and conditions are for the money being pumped into Chelsea, Man C and all the other free spending clubs, I hope for English football's sake that its more Jack Walker than Gaydamack.

I believe the Ruski money was converted into shares to avoid future "Fair Play" limits, but Chelsea do not own thier pitch so expansion plans are difficult.

Problem is the same would happen if the russian stopped paying the bill at chelsea, and the man city backers pulled out, where would that leave them. Pompey get bad press for there situation, i was at the cup final and yes i loved it as i would if vale where there. Its not down to the fans to check the books add up. There should be proper finance rules put in place but there never will be. People down here are just about ready for AFC Portsmouth and southern division football. As for the FA previous 4 owners of pompey FIT AND PROPER PERSONS!!!! you decide!

The 2 teams that i support :( More hope for vale than pompey
