Interesting (for those who like this kind of thing
!) stats about our start to league 1. We haven’t created many chances but haven’t conceded many chances either. Looks like we have been unlucky with some clinical finishing against us when compared to other teams - but we are by no means the worst performing team based on these statistics. The most important stat overall is obviously league position but these tend to suggest we are performing somewhere just below mid table level at the moment. With a few tweaks, fitness level improvements and players getting used to each other we’ll be fine this season. We need to be more clinical ourselves too!

Some interesting stats which show where we're at after 4 games, compared to the league so far.

Attacking wise, we look middle of the road for xG and total shots, but our shots on target stats are the 5th worse in the league. Maybe not too surprising given we don't have any strikers! We're having a lot of shots inside the box though (8th best). Seems the team structure is working well, and we just need the chances falling to some proper strikers!

Defensively, we're doing okay, and limiting chances against, but it seems that when teams do get a chance, they're hitting the target and being clinical! Interestingly, Saturday's opponents Burton have the worst record in the league for total shots against and total shots on target!

In a word no, here's the timeline of the MK dons game. They've shouldn't have had one goal really.

What the above shows is we should be about 15th in the table based on our defense and attack output.

I would certainly take 15th at the end of the season.

*If we can be more clinical in front of goal and teams don’t score out of nowhere against us (wonder strikes or temp defensive lapses) - these things can and do happen as against MK dons!!!

The season is going exactly how I expected it to, so far. We'll win one, we'll draw one and we'll lose one or two. Having Wilson and Worrall back will take us up a gear. They are two massive players for us. At the moment we're missing key players. Some players are trying to find a bit of form, one or two others are just trying to get game time and match fit. We look a bit of a mess at times at the moment and it's no wonder.
