does anyone know who is up top tonight? and is anyone else not only frustrated than this so called " wage structure " is a load of b-locks and will hogtie us this season. im very concerned for saturday. VERY.

Well yeah. The market rate is what dictates the wages for players. A “wage structure” is basically saying to good players that we don’t want them and we are happy to be a home to mediocre cheap buys.

Having said that, as fans we either turn up as we have been to give 8k attendances and more money or we can forget it. After all, the money we spend is going back into the club.

Trouble is, League 1 is big for us these days. Barnsley for example have had 5 of the last 10 years in the Championship and they are nowhere near the biggest club.

We have had roughly 5 years of the last 15 in league 1. Big difference.

I remember when we got relegated from the Champ level in 99/00 and remember the following season moaning in the stands about playing all these small 3rd div clubs and that we should be going straight back up.

Can’t honestly imagine that now!

In June 2017, Clarke signed a new five-year contract.[63] He was named as EFL manager of the week after overseeing a 6–0 win away at Northampton Town on 7 October despite missing his preferred centre-backs.[64] However speaking later in December he said he felt "let down" by the club for its wage policy and infrastructure, saying they were "30 years behind" other clubs.[65] He further admitted some of his players were struggling with the increased expectations following recent successes, though Rovers still managed to end the 2017–18 campaign in 13th-place.[66] Billy Bodin was sold to Preston North End for an undisclosed fee in January 2018.[67] In June 2018 he graduated with the FA's highest coaching qualification (FA Level 5 UEFA Pro).[68] The following month he sold forward Ellis Harrison to Ipswich Town for an undisclosed fee believed to be in the region of £750,000.[69] He left his post on 13 December 2018 following a run of seven defeats in ten matches; at the time of his departure he was the fourth-longest serving manager in the EFL.[70]

Glad to see you don't mind getting dumped out of the cup first round because we're woefully unprepared for the season. There are some real arselickers on here.

I think it's a question of being realistic. Shortest pre-season I've ever known and a promotion. They had very limited margin for error and a few things have probably gone awry.
