The reduced capacity is something to do with the roof. Hopefully it can be repaired and restored without it having to be completely replaced as the framework of it which you see inside the stand is unique and worth preserving.

Seems a strange thing to reduce capacity because of. If the roof is dangerous noone should be in there, other than that, it's not like it slows down evacuation or anything like that

I thought that myself. If it caves in, everyone's doomed whether it be 4000 people in there or 2000. Makes no difference.

The stand is not in use, but the lower part will be used for segregation when Bycars becomes the away end. Ground capacity should increase once the safety issues elsewhere have been resolved.

Alot of older stands have had some form of major revamp to be able to last. Plymouth and most recently Portsmouth. I think a new indoor concourse and so forth. However ot depends om how much damage is done. Plus there is a huge waste of land where the railway stand/paddock are built in the hill.

Food for thought when the Railway needs to be renovated or replaced.  Easier to do over a couple of seasons. Otherwise get JCB to sponsor the removal of the banking .  Carol will be able to have a look around this season.

Just get 10,000 Liverpool fans with rope ladders and send them up, will fall down then. Save us a fortune

IMO, If Vale ever truly want to be a sustainable Championship club, we need to demolish both the Railway and family stand and replace them with a modern stand closer to the pitch and utilise the space behind.

Longer term, yes.  In the short term we’ve got plans to switch ends, so the Bycars facilities will need improving so that we’re not losing revenue when a big away following uses that end.  In fact we’re missing out already by not having both tea bars open, with fans giving up when they see the size of the queue.  Alongside this we’ve just opened more hospitality in Lorne Street and I’d guess the focus is firmly on getting fans into the empty section.
