Match Thread: Exeter City v Port Vale

Last time we travelled here 3 points were essential, this time we need them to stay in the top 6 for another week. Exeter picked up a point at Lincoln so a steady start in L1 for both teams, a tight game is to be expected. Plenty of team options as well as hoped for transfers to change the line-ups. Probably a draw but a repeat single goal win would be a good reward for SVA.

Morning all, didn’t think we’d be playing you so soon but there you go. Good start for you lot yesterday, we got a deserved point at Lincoln, next week should be a good game. We had your old boy Scott Brown in goal as Jamal Blackman had a slight injury but he should be back next week.

Safe travels to anyone visiting us, I’ve heard you’ve sold around 400 tickets so far, but would expect you to have around 600 or so by next Saturday. Yesterday’s result will obviously help to persuade any floaters.

Good luck for the season, starting next Sunday 👍

Good to hear from you again Fred, and Best Wishes for the rest of the season too,  will copy your post over to the match thread which is now open.

Have we improved more by what they have improved by since a few games ago? I would certainly take a point away on the opening day against anybody. Not gonna be easy, a draw or defeat isnt a disaster. A win would be brilliant mind.
I didn't realise you were a week behind in Oz. Look away now if you don't want to know the opening day result....

Exeter play football the right way and have my respect for that. Tactics must include starting on fire and not giving away an early goal. But other than that I think we have a relatively strong team / squad which by whatever chosen tactics should be looking to win. Probably 1-0. Cass won't want to fall behind his rivals so I tip him for the winner!

Saw on Exeters forum someone had rumoured they might be in for Theo. Normally you’d fear an ex player coming back to bite you but not when it comes to that fella.

Be a good challenge. Expect a tight game as most games between Vale and Exeter tend to be. Jay and Nombe will be the two we need to try and stop. Couple of really good players there.

If that really happens then Exeter will go right to 24th in my predictions for this league. His agent is a miracle worker

Just waiting on a call from my m8 in Kidsgrove to see if he's going Exeter.

If not then just been playing around on Trianline and can get a direct train to Exeter from where I live and just one change back.  So, hopefully will be there.

Leg is getting better by the day and seeing the Consultant tomorrow; hoping to get the all-clear and i'll be there.  👍

Looking forward to this one - 3 points Saturday has set us up nicely, whilst a point away at Lincoln isn’t to be sniffed at.

Sam Nombe looked sharp for these on Saturday, scored the goal and had one disallowed for offside.

Seems he came off injured around 60 mins, so be interesting to see if it’s precautionary or he misses our game. Think he missed most of last season with an injury if I’m not mistaken so he’s got previous.
