Match thread: Kidsgrove Athletic v Port Vale, friendly 7/7/22

Recommended Posts

I'm doing a little Admin work on this (renaming the thread and making into one of match threads). We'll use this as the "match thread" for the game itself so feel free to share your views before, during and after the game...

OVF will also have some photos from the game available over the weekend.

Looking forward to this but slightly disappointed that it’s fallen on a school night.  Usually a mammoth session interspersed with a bit of football.  Oh well.

I haven't been kidsgrove for a friendly in years. Is there a boozer near the ground ?

Nearest one is probably the Chough Hall Hotel, a short walk across the Park will get you to the ground. There's the Canal Tavern and the Blue Bell (Real Ale Pub) by the cut at the bottom of 2nd Avenue but other than that you've got to go to Butt Lane/Talke.

The Woodshutts was the nearest but it was demolished years ago.

You can always buy a pint in the ground and sup it by the touchline whilst watching the game.  Bar will be a bit crowded though.

A mix of youth and experience for this one and a trialist plays number 17
Jones,Ojo,Robinson(if you can call him experienced) and Charlsley are the experienced starters, the others are youth
Ill be interested to hear how Robinson fares. Never really got a look in last season but we paid a fee for him so must be something about him.

Bit much charging a tenner for a youth team friendly. Not good Vale.

One reason i try not to go them tbh as you never know

I do find it strange not many first teamers involved with us only having 2 friendlies in the country and the season only 3 weeks away but maybe he is protecting them for now as i think we only currently have 19 players
