Heard the news about Whitehead a month back so no surprise really. Joining up with Adam Murray again

All the best to him did a fantastic job while he was here. Another one from the dark side of the city who converted to the right side !

A very gushing statement from both sides, which reflects well on both the club and Whitehead.

Sounds like a new "experienced"(*) coach will be brought in for the start of pre-season next week.

(* - unlikely to be Fletcher in that role then, for those suggesting that he could be brought in as a player-coach to replace Whitehead).

Best of luck to the guy.  As mentioned above, came from darkness into light.  I think if nothing else he’ll be remembered for one of the iconic moments at Wembley caught on camera when showing support for DC. 🙏🏻

Shows the process works… if our backroom team are being poached by huge European clubs then we are obviously doing something right!

I have all faith that we will make the right appointment to replace Dean.

Dean, thank you for your contribution, good luck with the future. Sad to see you go but progression is what life is all about. If there’s any chance of us loaning players or friendlies to be played, make sure to give Carol a call.

I think the statement from the club regarding the move is great.  Whilst losing the likes of AM and DW is obviously disruptive it sends a strong message out to potential candidates that they can progress their careers with us and go on to a high level, which should encourage a higher calibre of coach to see working at Vale as the great opportunity it no doubt is nowadays.
