Just watched that myself. Nice little vid shame it wasn't a little longer

I love Darell Clarke attitude and philosophy. It's not just about football but also about life too and how you bounce back from a bad period.

The man's mentality and desire is incredible. After what happened to him and his family, the fact he came back to finish the job and get us promoted just shows the fight and passion he has. He's an absolute inspiration for many of us

I couldn't stand him when he joined us. I felt Askey was dealt a bad hand and thought, as fans, we were poor with him. DC came in and I couldn't warm to him. I thought he was rude, dismissive and arrogant.

I'm happy to have changed my view. And not just because of the promotion. There's something about him that's a bit special, and sometimes those types of people are a bit spiky. There's no shame in changing your opinion, and I'm happy to have changed mine about DC. We just might be at the start of something pretty wicked.

I think he is able to bring objectivity and clarity to his decision making. At a lower level the change from Askey to Clarke was like from Rogers to Klopp at Liverpool. I remember going to games when Rogers was manager and then soon after Klopp was manager. And suddenly under Klopp there was very clear pattern of play in attack and in defence which, good manager though he is Rogers, you couldn't see before. And Rogers has had that at Leicester last year, lots of passing but not going anywhere incisively. In Clarke's case he came back just in time last season to make some key changes that made the difference. I live on the Wirral so I was able (pre COVID-19) to take a few opportunities to go to a few Liverpool games per season. One was v Napoli when Ancelotti was manager. And yes, he is a god level manager, you can see exactly what his team is trying to do and exactly what they are seeking to exploit.

Or maybe Murray and Crosby were doing fine and DCs return screwed up automatic promotion. Who knows?

5 promotions in 10 seasons as a manager.

Promoted at every club he has been at apart from the toxic basket case that is Walsall

The bloke is an exceptional manager. We are very lucky to have him.

He didn't come back until the Exeter game as you well know. He then produced a 75% win rate in his 4 games. You are really making yourself look stupid, bitter and twisted. A real man would admit when he was wrong.

Agreed. A real man also wouldn’t continue a pathetic vendetta against a man who had been through what DC has been through this year.

Its disgusting behaviour.

I didn't say that was my opinion, just offering an alternative take. I stopped posting out of respect for Darrell regardless of my opinion of his managerial abilities but then everyone was moaning their bags off about me not posting. Make your minds up.

It wasn't your opinion, but you just had to say it! My god we all know it was.

So what is your opinion of his managerial abilities, considering the players love him, 99.999% of the fans love him. He has won 5 promotions in 10 years. Our wonderful owners love him too.

I actually met him 3 weeks ago as he was staying in the same hotel in Portugal. Despite the fact he was trying to relax after what has been an awful time for him he took the time to have a long conversation about all things Port Vale. He was extremely personable and would probably talked football for many minutes more than we did but i didn't want to disrupt his time away.
