Too many times I've been burned by falling in love with a loan player. The ones that got away

As Essex says , Tony Sealy, for how little he played for us I’ve never forgot him , to stick in the mind like that says it all , especially with my atrocious memory. One of the original gets you off your bum players

Loved him. Showing my age. Came to us twice and I wished we'd signed him. Glad others remembered him.

Can anyone remember Keith Leonard from Aston Villa , played 12 or 14 times and scored on his last game and showed plenty of potential but Villa would not sell him to us

I remember him well.  He starred in our 3-1 win against Bristol Rovers, the first ever game on a Sunday at Vale Park.  Chris Crowe the Villa manager was there, saw how good Leonard was and refused to let him go.  He had taken Sammy Morgan from us only a few months earlier.

Within 12 months Keith was starring for Villa at Wembley in the League Cup final.

For the record, the Bristol Rovers game, their goal was scored by John Rudge.

Got him - Derek Monahan

He was permanent signing mate. Seem to remember had terrible Vale career only playing maybe up to 10 games. Think blighted by injuries. His perm is the most memorable thing of his stay here .

I’ll have to ask this question again, I asked it a couple of years ago and received replies answering my question. I apologise to all those who correctly answered my question. The lad Rudgie signed at CB from Spurs, he was head and shoulders talent wise and could have played in a three piece suit and flip flops

He was superb. We had him and the Chamberlain's as a really handy front three in the 81/2 season. He's the best loan player in my time.

Kevin Scott - his name has come up a few times this last week or two - absolutely brilliant
