She said: "We had to be escorted onto the pitch to get to safety. I saw two children who couldn't have been more than 10 being treated for head injuries, one was hit by a bottle and the other hit in the eye by something, all because of the action of more than a minority of Port Vale fans," she said.

In that case then, more than a minority of Swindon fans are also to blame.

Another mum, Rachel Case, was there with her 12-year-old son and described the scary moment he was almost hit by a flare before those around her told her to get him out.

This person thought the situation was scary, but she had to wait for people around her to tell her to get her son out. Is she responsible enough to be a parent? If it was dangerous, you'd be straight out, but she couldn't make that decision by herself. Hilarious.

She said: "Vale supporters were throwing anything they could get their hands on at the Swindon supporters, very scary for all the small children in the crowd, and it was totally unprovoked."

Like plastic seats? Hypocrites.

Somebody write that Jason a bump note and call his family to let them know we are keeping an eye on him. Poor little lamb.

Finally , I am not surprised  to see junior autism's parents being so vocal online. Anything for attention. Every time I looked up at the mascots pre-match his dad had his phone in his hand recording something. They must really enjoy getting internet 'likes' more than spending quality time with their son. Has he ever seen you without a phone in your hand? Put it away and actually enjoy your moments together.

i'm just about fed up with all this, so i will just make a couple or three points which none of the media etc have NOT picked up on.

mr. mckirdy, besides falling over every chance he got, to get a fellow PFA member in trouble or even sent off, he was goading our supporters in both matches, his first goal at swindon he came and celebrated the goal, in front of them. So what reaction did he expect?

mr. garner, very indignant at our supporters, not acceptable etc, if the match had been at swindon would their supporters have come on the pitch in the unlikely event they beat us. also not treating his players with respect etc, did they deserve respect, fouling, pressuring the ref, wasting time, and as above trying to get fellow players sent off.

As to the "pitch invasion", its a tradition at Vale to   show and thank the team and owners how we feel about them... ok the 1% or less who we now know let the club down, should/will be caught and punished rightly so.

If i should be sceptical about this, they lost, they thought it was sown up after the first match, this match was just a formality, but we showed them how we can play, and they could not cope. I counted 4 good/very good chances we didn't take or did and just missed, so we have had the manager, and players trying to excuse their bad performance, and now fans step up, looks like the police will have 2200 complaints to sort through, ie a article in the swindon advertiser "swindon supporters if you have any information about the pitch invasion contact the Staffordshire's finest".

well thats my rant over... now where's my Sunday paper, see whats in that...It might give any details of damage done in the bycars, or more likely all the swindon fans injured whilst they trashed it. Good thinking by Carol/Colin to save the Hamill rd from damage to let them have the old bycars, is there a insurance claim in the post.

Sorry to bring pedantry along but ‘’more  than a minority’ would be greater than 49.9% of home fans which clearly it wasn’t.

I watched another Swindon vlogger on YouTube. In his opening title sequence he had footage of players brawling in a previous game and also their pitch invasion at Walsall.

A great video of the pitch invasion. Have a look who starts throwing things first. The smoke bomb is red too - I didn't realise that. Is it likely that a red smoke bomb originated from the Swindon end or from a Vale fan?

Their narrative is a shambles and their own videos are proving it.

From 10.48 you can see a couple of Swindon players running towards the Vale fan’s entering the pitch.

There is no excuse for violence either on the football field or out in the streets. Consequently I hope anyone found guilty is duly punished.

Now as far as the Swindon club, chairman, manager & fans are concerned, put your own house in order before commenting on others. I do believe you have also had your problems with violence and damage to property.

With regards to the match itself, did we not employ enough security & police to manage the situation, or did they simply not react to the situation. I expect them to give Carol a full de-briefing of where it went wrong and obviously a refund of the costs that we will undoubtedly incur.

Football in general needs to sit up and take note of the recent disturbances before we have a return to the bad times that I thought had been eradicated.

Whilst I don't condone any aggressive behaviour towards any opposition players or fans and any identified be banned, I'm struggling with a couple of things:

1) From all the footage I've seen, I can't identify any punches being thrown. Lots of shoving and handbags but not full on fighting.

2) Why didn't their players run off down the tunnel? They seemed to want to stay to get involved with arguing. Just run off and don't get involved

3) Why, if the situation was so dangerous for away fans, did they stop around? I would have been out of the stand as soon as the penalty was ballooned. I noticed people still in there 10 minutes later!

Again, not condoning any wrongdoing and if anybody, from either side, is found to have done anything wrong, then they should be punished accordingly. But a few things don't add up to me.

I've said the same.

We were in the Hamil. Jumped up and down, hugged a few, then went home.

If I'd been an away fan and we'd lost,I'd have been straight off the ground.

The first fans throwing bottles were Swindle fans...hope they identify them. Plus, their fans have a whole load of incidents that have come to light in the past.

The arrogance of the captain,McTurdy and the manager, made a tense situation even more hyped than it needed to be. Sore losers

Is that a yellow seat I can see heading towards the pitch? No it won’t be, because Swindon fans behaved impeccably…

Pity that wasn’t noticed by some of the gobshites commenting / commentating on the “absolutely disgusting scenes”. (Big soz about costing you the title Matt T, but remind me, what did your fans do the last game of the season??).

And, I’ll say it again for clarity, I’m not condoning anything, two wrongs blah blah… but let’s have a bit of balance in the reporting here please.

Anyway, I’m starting to sound like Ben Garner, so that’s enough from me. Besides I need the sleep, busy day tomorrow. I’ve got a lawn to sort out that is bone dry having not been watered for days. Lot of it about it seems….

That's my seat!!!

If your lawn needs watering, just let McTurdy on it for 5 minutes. He spits every 3 steps so your lawn will be completely soaked in about half an hour. Plus it saves your water. Times are hard

I wonder if they are actually running to console the player who has just missed his pen??

I’ve seen a lot of comment from some Managers (obviously) banging on about player safety (agreed it is compromised) and how fans need to be more responsible. Fine. But I’ve not seen a single comment about players being more responsible.

Again, for the avoidance of doubt, I’m not condoning anything.

However, given the situation between Vale and Swindon BEFORE the play-odds was, let’s just say tense, I’d love the CEO of Swindon (having watched his frankly unbelievable SSN interview) how celebrating in front of away fans by “machine gunning them” might in anyway have helped calm the situation? Likewise comments about “diving into Thursdays game”. Likewise winding up fans in the Hamil Road End during the game?? I could go on….

Meanwhile, this happened after the other play-off semi-final...

Northampton Town boss Jon Brady wished Mansfield Town all the best in their Wembley final, "I have to congratulate Nigel Clough and Mansfield and we wish them all the best,” he said. "We have had a fantastic season [but] credit to Mansfield.

"We pushed and pushed and pushed and unfortunately we just couldn't get over the line and get ourselves to Wembley. It's deeply disappointing and the players are deeply disappointed but I can't ask for anything more from them because they have given absolutely everything this season."

I think that's called being magnanimous in defeat, Mr Garner!

Contrast with the modest celebration of Wilson and his team mates of the Vale goal, no sliding or piling on a heap.

This is my last contribution to the Swindle game. I think there's a blame element on their fans too.

Mansfield fans have asked for a minutes applause for Darrell Clarke in the 8th minute. This is as a sign of respect for what he's gone through and his old shirt nbet.

Makes a change from the tripe spouted by McKirdy,Conroy,Little Jonny,Garner and the so called Swindle fans.

I think it'll be a much nicer occasion on Saturday

Have Swindon condemned the behaviour of their fans at all?

No of course not. Pathetic sore losers. But then again, certainly for as long as I can remember, they’ve always been a horrible, unsporting team. I can remember the infamous Nile Ranger game (says it all really) that nearly caused a riot with some of their antics.
