Is Garrity out of contract? I think his goals alone this season could get him a move.

It would be very surprising if we paid a fee for a players in their mid 20s last summer and only gave them a year contract. Would imagine he has another year, possibly with an option of another.

I believe the following are out of contract:

Gibbo - must keep but suspect we may struggle on basis of age and potential. His injury record will be a concern to potential suitors which might help us but has shown enormous development in the last couple of seasons.

Proctor - must keep and would suspect after one of his better seasons as a pro that a deal will be struck as he seems settled.

Worrall - been a great servant to the club over the last 5 years but has looked wasted at wing back and contribution to the side has dropped significantly. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him offered a deal but also wouldn’t be surprised if he decided to move on.

Benning - release. Came with a big reputation but has struggled for game time, only got into the side due to injuries and has only had a handful of decent performances amongst a number of shockers. That triple pass into touch within a minute or so at Walsall will live long in the memory.

Smith - would offer terms but wouldn’t be overly surprised if we part ways due to a combo of wages (surely one of our top paid after 2020 extension) and where he might field interest from elsewhere despite not quite hitting the same heights as prior seasons.

Amoo - release - for every fleeting  moment of excitement we seem to pay a price of 10 games of complete anonymity. Doesn’t have a natural role in the tactical system seemingly preferred by Clarke.

Hurst - release on the basis that he hasn’t featured due to injury and we’ve got too many of the perennially injured to keep carrying folk who can’t play.

Stone - I would keep as a back up if we part ways with Covolan (which looks inevitable) and bring in an experienced number one. Has shown signs of potential but has also had the sort of moments that are typical of a young goalkeeper.

All the loanees will go back and I’d be surprised if we try to retain any for next season. Would also expect Covolan to be offered a mutual termination given his spectacular fall from grace.

For me the above and evidence of the season would leave us needing:

- A number 1 keeper

- A centre half 

- Possibly a right sided defender depending of Gibbo and Worrall. Would be amazed if we weren’t trying for Cass.

- Two widemen to allow us to change the shape of the side. If Cremonese get promoted from Serie B you would wonder where that might leave Politic who has barely played since choosing them over Vale.

- A forward to compete with Proctor and Wilson and to offer some protection against injury to either/both. Telford from Newport would be ideal but will surely be headed to League One after the season he has had.

Suspect Hall is signed up until 2024 as he still had 2 1/2 years on his Harrogate contract when we signed him and whilst we surely pay more in wages the security of that length of deal would be difficult to walk away from unless you got given similarly elsewhere.

Would imagine given Crewe’s position and our strong season, they will probably be keen on some of our players.
