I find that incredible. Huddersfield were 1 game away from the premier league, and they're looking and a non league striker. I know he's only young and 5ft taller than the jolly green giant, but come on.
He wouldn't get a sniff. Loaned out for the next 3 years and then released.

Like Jamie Vardy? Or Ian Taylor for us? Or Pinnock for Brentford? There are some quality young players at Conference level. Some just need that chance.

I get that but, if Vale were to sign unknown Jamie Vardy who had scored 60 goals in 80 games, I think we'd all be excited. Hudlin however has 14 in 61 (according to Google)

I'm not convinced, but I hope he does well wherever he goes and he certainly has time on his side, should he get that chance.

I saw that Hudlin on BT 3 times in the first half of the season and he looked awful. He was being used as a sub for the last half an hour in all 3 games. He looked like he had got a contract solely for the fear his physicality instilled in the opposition. Despite this he never won a header and also showed a poor touch. I don't know what has happened in the second half of the season but he must have come on leaps and bounds to even be considered by another team at that level.

You'll not be alone there!

Thanks. I realise it's a difficult one to judge at his young age and we're obviously not close enough to measure his attitude to training, but in his last two games filling in the gap created by Injuries, I thought he was pretty impressive and had certainly grown into that role alongside James Wilson as the play-off final proved.

How have we missed a trick? Huddersfield wanted him to join Bradford - according to Kian's dad...who also said Kian wanted to come back!

Also if he was travelling from Huddersfield every day, it’s a lot closer to Bradfud.

Dom Telford playing in that role instead.

Yes please.

I think a 21yo out of contract player with a unique skillset is always worth a punt. He'll be paid relative buttons and cost virtually nothing. Lobbed straight into the U23s.

Worst case, he's released in a year/loaned out a very little cost to the club.

Maybe with a year of good coaching, some reserve games, a clever loan spell, he becomes a gadget player you lob on with 10 minutes to go.

Minimal-cost risks are worth it.

Having looked at stats (which I know isn't everything) he has featured in over 36 minutes 6 times this season in the National League. Before that he was at Boldmere Falcons which from what I can work out is a kids team.

If he was any good with his physicality he would surely have been snapped up by an academy. It's not like he would have been a kid getting outmuscled until he bulked up in his early twenties like most who slip through the radar of the big clubs.

When I first saw him come on I thought if this guy is any good he will be worth taking a look at, then soon felt very disappointed.

It stinks of lazy scouting looking at a massive young lad who has scored in the conference playoff final having hardly featured. I'm sure many clubs will have gone to take a look and taken it no further as he ticks the boxes on the scouting stat sites (tall, young). It wouldn't surprise me if his agent is very active as he knows this is his chance to make a bit of money is now whilst he is relatively unknown.

For his sake I hope he leaves me with egg on my face and he goes onto have a great career but there must be better options available to take a punt on surely.

The problem with very tall players is you run the risk of just humping it up and they become easy to mark, let him win the first ball and deal with the second like Rudge used to do with Francis and White.

I asked Rudgey once about signing him he laughed and said we're a football team.

Also you might be surprised how much he earns at Solihull.

Completely un-vale related again, but i've just read Mansfield are in for Alex Mighten on loan. Absolutely crazy if that comes off
Never heard of him. Is he good?

I suspect after a relatively disappointing few seasons for them after chucking good money at it, they're going to give significant backing to Clough for one more season I suspect.
