Last season Vale got their hands on a 25 yr old midfield player who had played next to no league football and no one had heard and paid sod all for him, I clearly remember some of the posts deriding this signing.

that player then went on to prove all of his doubters wrong in the most spectacular way quickly adapting to league football scoring 12 goals from midfield and winning the player of the year award and was without doubt the fittest player in the squad.

jump forward to the fourth game of the following season after a shortened pre season break and the whole team is looking slightly ring rusty that same midfielder is being sold on as not good enough for league 1. Has it occurred to anyone that he may need a few games to get himself bedded in and used the better opposition, maybe that playing against better opposition may just bring him on again.

sometimes some of the folk posting on this forum are delusional to say the least, just to have a goal scoring midfielder in your squad is priceless in any league and to have one who is so young is a true commodity, what price 12 goals or the chance of them in a season ?.

I don't think Garrity wants to leave the Vale anyway, especially not for another L1 club.

What makes you think that ? If he's offered a 2 year deal and more dosh he would have to think about it.

I just think he loves the club and DC and don't think he would want to be uprooted from his merseyside home for another L1 side. I also don't think for him that money is the be all and end all.

Quite a rarity nowadays, most players have been at league clubs at junior level.  He could well improve a lot this season playing in L1 with intense coaching, whether with us or Posh who knows?

 Peterborough manager Grant McCann

"Yes, we are hopeful of more coming in before the window closes. We are trying but Ben Garrity; I’ve never seen him play.”

Has Barry Fry seen him play? They have a process too.  Keep away from our assets.

Not enough. If anyone wants him they’ll have to pay whatever we ask.

Thats very true Jean and what i do know is that if he goes then it will be for the best deal we can get and are happy with.

Personally i dont want to see him leave and there may be no truth in it BUT if he goes and we reinvest some of the money into a decent Tshimanga type(nippy fox in the box) then we will still be ok imo

I think it’s more Barry Fry and MacAnthony who do all the transfer business there so McCann is probably telling the truth. He probably won’t have much knowledge of it until any potential deal was done.
Forgive me if I'm being thick, but why would any player who just wants to play football go to a club where the manager, who picks the team, readily admits to not having a scooby about him?

DoF system picks players to suit the club style, how involved the manager/coach is involved in the final selection varies. Managers /coaches come and go the system stays.

No idea to be honest. Personally I think this has nothing in it. Probably needs something more concrete than George Andrews asking a speculative question at DC’s press conference.
