Always quiet liked Chris Shuker, he was the smallest player I've ever seen at Vale.

Shuker had a really good career and was particularly effective when at Tranmere. By the time he got to Port Vale he had suffered one injury too many and struggled to get in a team he would have been absolutely bossing in his prime.

Obviously there are great small men throughout history - for example Zola. But if a player is small they have to be technically better than the level they are at to compensate for the physical aerial limitations. Also maybe they have a great engine and ability to get under feet winning more challenges than expected alongside passing and dribbling well. Remembering Kenny Dalglish, not that small, but he had a great backside and sense of balance that made him much better as a target man than might be expected. In fact he was a phenomenal back to goal player.

McPhee was a great recent example. Deceptively strong and with a low centre of gravity, he could turn away from defenders before they knew what had happened.

He also had a better leap than players a foot taller than him. Cracking player who made a strange move to some Portuguese side.

Ian Bogie wasn’t a giant either and Dave Worrall is only an inch taller than Lowery.  To paraphrase ‘If you’re good enough you’re big enough’.

Marc Bridge-Wilkinson was one of the smallest players I’ve seen for the Vale.

Not to alarm anyone, but I predominantly work from home and the last 2 times I went into the office were the days that we signed Funso and then the bumper day of signings of Massey, Forrester etc.

Today I am in the office again…

Conor Wickham has been mentioned on here a few times, just joined FGR.

It's certainly a dangerous game of chicken we are playing. Hold out for targets, someone else swoops in and were left with the scraps.

Maybe our targets are under contract
