I see that Jobi McaNuff predicts we will be relegated, along with Morecambe, Forest Green and Fleetwood. He reckons it's a big step up, and we haven't really added anybody. Maybe he was asleep all day yesterday!

Another football expert alongside Sam Pudding Head Parkin and Dean Ashton. Don't get me started on Ian Pillock Holloway....

The Not The Top 20 podcast also had us second bottom for much the same reason. Although they did say that they had no reason to think any team would go down as they could all conceivably stay up, but 4 teams have to go down and vale have done no business of note.

You know you're on the right path when you struggle to put a starting 11 together because you're having to leave quality players on the bench. Bet one or two had sleepless nights last night after all the complaining the have done over the last couple of weeks about a lack of signings. Some people here would rather us sign four Theo Robinson's than be patient and take all the time you're given in the window to bring in the right players.

I expect one or two more to come in today and/or tomorrow, including a keeper. Shame we missed out on Blackman but that's how football goes sometimes.

Not sure where all these pundits are getting their views from.  Even before we signed the players yesterday, I thought we had a settled side that could compete with most sides in EFL1.  Last year we spanked Burton and Accrington and gave a really good account of ourselves against Rotherham who ended up getting promoted.  In fact I think Rotherham commented that we were the best side we'd played last season.

I see us being mid-table or, with the new signings, we could even be top-10.  I don't see that many teams that we should really, really fear.  Yes, there are some teams with very large budgets BUT that doesn't mean you'll have a great 'team' or that your players will perform.  I also don't see teams like Derby automatically bouncing back up; how many times have we seen teams drop out of one league and be tipped to go straight back up only to spend seasons struggling to do so (Northampton were tipped to go up as Champs last season and didn't)

Ignore them and KTF.  TTP

He's thick as mince. I wouldn't trust him if he told me it was Thursday tomorrow.

Just lazy predictions from people who know nothing about the teams at this level. Let me guess...he put Sheffield Wednesday top and Ipswich second? Football never works like that.

Positive moves yesterday and really happy that we're signing players in their early 20s who will improve rather than in their early 30s coming here for a wage.

We still need a goalkeeper to challenge Stoney and at least one forward to compliment the two we have. No getting away from that. I think early results will dictate how quickly those signings are in the building.

Teams generally allow you to play a bit more football in League One, which suits us. We're capable of mixing it up but we always look so much better when we try to get the ball down and play. A midfield of Ojo, Pett and Conlon, the three that I would opt for personally, are all comfortable on the ball. But what a nice trio to have in reserve in Walker, Charsley and Garrity.

Robinson, McDermott, Plant, Small and Agyakwa all have little or no experience of League1/2 football. When we played Liverpool youth last (?) season you could see that they all had amazing technical ability but Vale won.

Send em back

Although it is only one example, look what happened to Ryan Brown. He was looking really promising until a cynical old player elbowed him in the face and broke his cheekbone. He was never the same afterwards. Or Ryan Boot the keeper, remember the Crwho? game? Football at our level is a tough game, mentally and physically.

I think we will be close to going down personally. I really hope not as I feel the club can really push on if we can consolidate this season. The squad does need extra quality on top of what we already have. The current crop of players for me seemed flaky at times and could put in some dire performances. The Newport game at the end of the season for example. Its like that team had never played a game of football before. We need to see far less of that. Saying that there are some very winnable games. I dont know much about the other teams but we smashed Accrington in the cup last season and if we want to achieve safety then the games against the likes of Cheltenham, Burton, Exeter etc are must wins. The top teams like Portsmouth, Deby, Ipswich and Sheff Wed are games where anything can happen but my expectations are much lower. We have some excellent players in the spine of the team with Hall, Conlon and Wilson and hopefully the lads around them can step up. Its going to be a long old season and the lads are going to need every single bit of our support.

Whilst I respect your opinion,  Garrity should be the first name on the team sheet.
