Gone signing mad today .
Not getting ahead of myself but nice see some new players joining our winning group .
Are they good signings well that will be in the proof of the pudding
Welcome anyway all the new lads .
Good that Smith has competition for his place I'd say Hall is irremovable and Masseys going give us thrust from that right side .
A good day for the club .
That Will Forrester seems a good player to me ,glad he as the hunger also to play better than playing in front of 100 folk at stokes academy .
Well done lad showing he wants do it in front of thousands.
Ambition is better than playing in stokes academy till you 30 .

I also think there will be more than 2 or 3 to come in,if it's true how long Wilson is out then you would think possibly 3 strikers will be needed, I will be surprised if we sign Lowery tbh and i am guessing Holden still has a lot to prove

lets make it 4 then?:board:

Most of the players we have signed have come to play either as very promising young players who need game time to develop or experienced players who have played at higher levels than those we have. From this I conclude some discussion is needed with the players we already had to see who may want to move out on loan / transfer. We have many defenders - but I guess our system needs more than 442.

The defenders signed are likely good on the ball. Maybe they haven't got the experience of Nathan Smith in the tackling department and games played department. But I sense he needs to significantly improve on the ball to avoid coming under pressure.

We only need another goalie for Saturday if Stone gets injured.

We shouldn't be going into League 1 with Stone as first choice (and I dont think we will be). Stone should be allowed to continue to develop, playing cup games and as back up to a more experienced keeper. I think Stone will be a really good keeper, he makes some cracking reaction saves, but he still has a lot to develop before being a proper number 1 at this level.

I hope someone has done an objective calculation on the risk of playing with one keeper. It is fair to observe that some keepers have played hundreds of consecutive games and this implies the risk of substitution during a game is very low. In the short term it maybe possible to take the chance of no sub keeper on the bench or give a non league local keeper a chance for a few games.

Stone did well at the end of last season but I have seen many keepers better than him in my lifetime and hence he has much scope to improve. It's a call to be made on whether he is given the chance immediately or an experienced higher level keeper is signed allowing him to develop further.

However, I don't think we should try to sign a marginally better keeper, it is either obviously better / more experienced or go with Stone.

Im sure the club are working on it. Sometimes these things take time. If it takes to beyond the weekend to get the deal right, that's how long it will take.

I dont think it is our management's style to rush a decision and possibly get it wrong.

Did you watch half the season? Benning showed what he can do in the final but he needs to do this consistently.

Benning got himself a PT and got properly fit and lean after Christmas. I think he would admit that he was poor before that, but after forcing his way back in he was excellent and I can only remember Walsall away where he had a bad game.
