Gas in a similar position. Paying the price of having to replace high performing loan players last season.

Not quite, apparently they have enough players to play two preseason friendlies simultaneously, guess that includes some youth players but they must have 22 plus fit players.

I take it you do not like Lucas or liked him we got promotion and everyone who had minutes last season played there part ,we won v Barrow so a goalie makes a mistake certain players make mistakes regularly but never hear a peep about them but goalie low and behold they make a mistake ,mistakes happen we played a high press when Lucas played give the lad a bit of credit .
Obsessed some fans are with mistakes lets look at the positives of last season (so many )players who have I openly thought they were not up to the job proved me wrong lets hope they all as a whole continue to silence there doubters I hope for one Lucas does just that
UTV

Oh I am very positive about last season for obvious reasons, I agree he had some good games and credit where credit is due for him in certain games; but would you rather take the risk of having someone in goal who is completely unpredictable and have never played EFL football before last season, or get a keeper in who has the experience required for league one football?

We are in a higher league, working within a budget. The more players you have the less they can be paid, we seem to be having a nucleus with possibly 2 to come. A couple of quality loans like Portsmouth had would be good, 1 worked 1 didn't. Any shortfall to be made up from the development players and where future funds to grow will partially come from. Glass half full, I may be surprised. My local paper is full of Leicesters zero signings, it certainly gets tougher as you progress, with chains of players and a 1000 rumours.

Making a big assumption that Hussey is a miss. Looks like a proper footballer to me.

Don't know what Hussey you've been watching this season.

Feel sorry for him though, you can tell he's an experienced league one player who just didn't gel quickly enough last season, hopefully this year he will prove me wrong and be the leading league one wing back we bought him to be.

I just think the lack of signings is symptomatic of this summers player market in L1. Most clubs have done very little business to date and we are only just starting to see some really good loan signings.

I note Portsmouth still don't have ANY senior striker at the club, its clearly a challenging market to get value for money especially with the stupid money being thrown around in the leagues below.

I think Pompey are hoping to get Hirst for another season but likely to be disappointed as he will either be in the Championship or in Leicesters squad.

So fitness permitting i'm plumping for this team v Fleetwood.

Stone

Worrall Cass Smith Hall Benning

Garrity Walker Ojo

Wilson Proctor

Subs

Hussey, Charlsley, Pett, Robinson ,Jones , Mcdermott

So 2 weeks left, we'll see a keeper, wing back, centre half and 2 strikers in my humble opinion as absolute priority. Possibly a winger type and maybe another defender. Then we'll be good to go .

We played against Dundee with two youth team players, Robinson, who has no experience, a trialist and players coming back from injury. We finished with 10 men. We only have one keeper. We don't have enough fit players for a first 11 and 5 allowed subs. We have another trialist who is unfit after an injury. We only have one goalkeeper. To my mind, we look a little light for the start of the season.

Correct - and flip it to a glass half full kind of perspective;

- It seems like we gave a good account of ourselves against decent opposition - they had some quality names playing such as Fletcher and Levitt.

- A youngster scored the goal and has impressed in both friendlies so far.

- Robinson is gaining match experience of our system, so that if he is required to step in during the season he is hands on familiar with our style.

- Holden is practically risk free - prove his fitness and he may well get a contract, if he doesn’t, we move on without it costing us a contact/place in the squad.

Totally agree that we are looking light for the start of the season, and the lack of activity is frustrating. However I think a bit of perspective is needed.

Last time we were in league one, Sexman and his sweetie jar were publicly tweeting ex Liverpool winger Ryan Babel asking if he fancied a game for us.

We need way more than 2 players. Higher league and higher wages yes but also higher budget.

We’re still way short and at bare minimum need a Keeper, two strikers, wing back, centre half and imo another creative midfielder. We are desperate for some pace in the side. Not sure why development players are suddenly likely to be involved either. They weren’t good enough last season for league 2 so they clearly aren’t ready for this level. We need at least 5/6 signings and then possibly 1/2 loans imo. Nothing worse than signing loan players as your key men, they’re either not very good or really good and get recalled or you lose them at the end of the season. Cass being the one anomaly in this.

I would certainly hope by Fleetwood we at least have another keeper and forwards in the club

We've signed the third-least number of players.

Exeter 0, Oxford 1, us and Wycombe 2. 20/23 teams have signed more players than we have, and we've got rid of 7 and lost 1.

It might be a slow summer but we're right at the back of the pack.

There was a trend on here that those who were a bit nervy were told to 'wait for X date', which has been continually pushed back. We've gone after players and likely lost out on wages - that's the reason for the delay.

I’m sure it was wait for the 1st July and you’ll see an influx of signings…..
