Hladky has 2 years on his contract and they paid a fee for him a year ago. Going to a L1 rival too. Would be nice.

There's 91 clubs playing the usual amount of pre-season games. We're gambling on everyone else being wrong and our 'process' seeing something they're not (that you don't need pre-season games to be ready for the first game). I don't particularly like the odds. All the other playoff finalists are playing at least 5, even Grimsby who finished later than us.

Perhaps we can build pre season games into final league positions somehow ? Think the EFL will be up for it ?

I'm not reading too much into this lack of pre season games fuss.

When the season kicks off we'll have played Dundee United and Rochdale - granted we would have played 4 or 5 in previous seasons but we rarely play more than 2 or 3 against league opposition the others are usually against local part timers which amount to nothing more than training games offering a much needed financial boost to our non league neighbours.

To me, we've taken a sensible stance putting our own preparations ahead of squeezing ìn these games where we'd rarely see any first teamers get more than a 45 minute stroll.

In short, the team appear to have done their homework and we'll be in the best place we can be given the condensed pre season.

I've mentioned Hladky a few times on here but after Aberdeen wouldn't pay the £100k asking price I thought that would rule us out too.

I doubt many deals are done face to face anymore. Everything will be done via phone, email, zoom and I suspect the club will have shown prospective players around the club. Some players won't even bother taking a look around. A lot of job interviews are done remotely now....I know of people who didn't step into their office at all for several months into a new job.
