Summer transfer targets/rumours, retained list etc

The players leaving are league 2 players. To stay in league 1 we need league 1 players.

I have been down the club today to look over the hospitality options now open to fans

At long last we have quality hospitality opportunities.

President seating being ripped out and quality going in. To sit there next season you have a 3 course meal included.

The RW suite is Championship quality and that includes a buffet meal.

The club revenue from hospitality is going to rocket!

For anyone being envious of Brizzle just take a look at the magnificent improvement the Shanahans have made to the quality of our squad, physical infrastructure improvements, reputation of our club. Anyone saying we can't compete with Brizzle needs to take a look at themselves.

Gibbons was made an offer for what the club thinks he is worth. That is very different from making an offer that is restricted by what we can afford.

Up the Vale. Onwards and Upwards!!

I agree with everything you say and it makes complete sense. Yet I can’t help but feel disappointed.

For me we played our best football of the season in those last two games.

It’s not just the fact it’s Gibbo, come from the youth team, local etc etc. I’d be annoyed if Taylor went to Mansfield and I was sad to see Hannant not coming back. Those games gave a glimpse of the team we could be but the three that came in and changed the dynamic… well we could start the season with none of them.

Logic says we should not re-sign him because of his injury record. My eyes say we are (were) a better team with him in. Going to a Sheffield Wed, Ipswich etc, no issue, both big clubs and I’d have driven him myself.

But… Bristol Rovers, really?? City yes, but Rovers?? Very, very strange move. I really hope we have a good replacement lined up and, importantly, that Benning stays.

I saw Walker and Jones doing some light work on Monday. He seemed to be moving OK to me.

I hope they’re qualified for such work.  Out of interest what sort of light, LED?  Don’t tell me, we’ve reverted back to the old Sexman tactic of replacing good lightbulbs with bad to save on electricity.

Disappointing losing such a good, spirited player to Bristol Rovers, could understand his decision more if he'd gone to a bigger club or into a higher league.

Anyone know if we got anything for him.

Time for the likes of Cass or Sammy Robinson to step up. What's Mitch Clarke doing these days.

What are those opportunities Dave? We’ve been looking at options but can’t get responses as yet.

I love Gibbo ,the definition of a fans favourite. A local lad and as someone already said he plays with passion and has driven us forward when other heads have dropped. Sad to see him leave, however it was an eye opener when I saw the stats on his appearances over the last few seasons. Therefore fully understand the Vales offer of a pay as you play contract. Equally get why Gibbo would take a 2 yr deal elsewhere on a normal contract. I will be applauding Gibbo on his return to Vale park and always thought a fit Gibbo meant a stronger Vale side. Unfortunately we have had to operate without him too often in the past and will do so going forward. I get the decisions made by both parties. No bitterness from me either way .

Morning all.  As I said on one of the Vale FB pages, the sun comes and the sun goes down - players come and go.

I would love to have seen Gibbo stay, but he's gone to Rovers.  By the way, I too think Barton is vile, but the Gasheads think he's DC2 - think i'd hate to work under him.

When Gibbo comes back I, for one, will not be booing him.  That's not right in my book.  We made him an offer, it wasn't the offer he wanted and now he's gone.  There's no malice in this, its just life.

Can't wait to see what other signings we make and, in just over an hour, we get to see the fixture list and get excited.

I'm 60 years old and this is absolutely the best I've known it ever at Vale, even better than the Rudge years.  What Carol/Kevin and their team have done makes me ache with pride; to think - just a few short years ago, we were being run by the Fat Controller and nearly taken out of the existence/the football league.

Onwards and Upwards; for me I believe we'll finish in the upper half of the league next season.  We have a great core and just a few players to add to it - 3 or 4 tops.  When Conlon and Walker come back we'll be even stronger.  Last year no one enjoyed coming to Vale Park - we play nice football - we scared teams last season and we'll do it again next season.

Good luck Gibbo - thanks for all the memories.

Very true about players, we’ve all seen a fave leave at some point.

If we finish top half we’ve done well.  Looks tough to me this season.
