I'm interested in why some don't seem to rate Proctor. For me, he was absolutely fantastic during parts of the season and only faded when his injury got so bad he literally couldn't get onto the pitch. However, I felt he earned kudos for playing through the pain.

I'm not saying he should be an undisputed starter upfront but he's not that old and would be a great squad man, starting some and being a decent option off the bench. I'd be very happy if he signed and disappointed if he left.

Totally agree and add to that the experience he can pass on to younger strikers, also his ability to hold up the ball and take pressure off the defence.

There seems almost a requirement within the fanbase for at least one or two scapegoats each season, especially new players coming into the squad who need time to settle. It's easy to criticise from the stands but sometimes we forget these players have families to uproot, schools to change, new places to adapt to and maybe the problems players have outside of the club which maybe having affects on their game go un-noticed. Not saying this is the case for any player particularly, but I think it's been obvious with certain players that the management know far more about their abilities on the field than we do.

For me, it's also about having that mix.

This last season we had that - some players from the top National League sides, some experienced L2 players, Proctor and Politic from the division above, promising youngsters like Harratt and Edmondson... A range of ages from the likes of Aaron Martin to teenagers like Harratt.

I think there's a tendency to want young, exciting players everywhere - and to partner Wilson with a youngster. But while young players can be exciting and go on to great things, they can also be inconsistent so that's why you need a balance.

For me, Proctor is that - he's an experienced, canny player who's played in the division. By all means bring in a couple of young tyros upfront too, but I also think Proctor's experience and know-how will be invaluable both on the pitch and in the dressing room.

I think if any of them don't sign it will be Proctor. Can't see him being our other starter with Wilson and he might go somewhere like a Stockport or Wrexham for one last pay day. No inside info, he just doesn't usually hang round at clubs and I wouldn't blame him for trying to get a decent wage while he still can. Unless he's happy winding down here and being a rotational striker where he's happy. Who knows.

I sort of agree.

But listening to his under he cosh and, a few more bits from him, I think he genuinely loves it at Vale.

Time will tell I guess.

Will be interesting to see how ST sales go, as that may well affect the playing budget available.

Any forecast on potential sales figures by other posters.

I'll kick it off by suggesting we may achieve as much as a 10% increase following our Wembley performance making around 4,900. Thoughts?

I’ve got mine and my two daughters sorted. Started bringing them at the start of the season, not been for years as I played rugby on a sat afternoon, age and injuries took its toll then covid struck. Had season tickets throughout  the JR era. What a fantastic season to introduce the kids to the vale, the new generation of fans. Youngest’s got three shirts and they’ll be having the new ones

Signed Cass.

Wow!

What a statement that is for the first signing of the window.

Looking forward to seeing his lolloping runs forward again.

One of the most entertaining players I've seen in recent years.

Keep em coming Flitters!

I think we would have to pay compensation since Newcastle offered him a contract.

Yes if offered a contract we have to agree compensation with Newcastle for his development.

The fact there is no mention of compensation suggests that it has either been agreed already by Newcastle and Vale and won't need to go to the PFCC, or they agreed to forego it as a favour to Lewis to ensure he got the move he wanted.

His agent has thanked Newcastle for their 'assistance in the process of the move' which suggests they've been sound on the compensation front, as that would be their only involvement.
