“But as soon as we got through, we got contract negotiations delivered to the players. I have a face to face meeting with Gibbo and his agent on Tuesday. I am currently negotiating with Jamie Proctor and his agent, and with Mal Benning.

“We are just trying to do something that is the right deal for the player and the club. I think one thing we have always shown at the club since I have been here is fairness. This club has been brilliant at looking after players and their families. It is the best I have known and the players say that as well.

“You want that fairness on both sides. When either side gets greedy then it doesn’t become a sustainable deal.

“Honestly, a lot of players want to sign for Port Vale. I am getting inundated with players and agents. We are in a really exciting time of recruitment but keeping the core of the squad together is key. We had a really big destabilisation at the end of last season (the club released all their out of contract players) and another in January really. But it was needed.

“This is a case of trying to keep a brilliant core of players, the momentum and spirit and adding to that.

We have some really exciting clubs that want to work with us. We worked with Leeds (for Edmondson), Huddersfield (for Harratt), Newcastle (for Cass) and also with Bolton with Dennis Politic.

“There are Championship clubs that players have gone to where they have put on weight, they have lost muscle mass or speed over distance, their GPS figures are down on what they should be.

“But the way Port Vale looked after players, and this goes back to Carol’s values, and the way they have been supported makes it miles easier for recruitment.

“Also, we have gone a league higher. A lot of Premier League clubs don’t really send players to League Two when they can send them out to Vitesse Arnhem or the Belgian and German leagues.

“But we are currently speaking to clubs and doing presentations. I did two last week and am doing two next week to say this is what we can offer. It is brilliant, as the Port Vale director of football, to be able to present to some of the best clubs in the country. It has even surprised me, and not much does in football.

“I think the word has gone out that Port Vale looks after players – technically, tactically and physically but also psychologically with that social support for players.”

So refreshing to hear the club spoke about on these terms.

First example I recall was under Askey, Jake Taylor when on loan had his car broken into it. Carol/club sorting him another car to use straight away. It’s only little things but it shows how we value the player, whether contracted to ourselves or loaned in. When in our care we look after them.

You would imagine incidents like this speak volumes to clubs looking to potentially loan their players out, and would hopefully go some way in making a positive decision towards ourselves.

Love how proud I am of our club and the steps we are taking both on and off the pitch.

Really encouraging read on the whole from Flitcroft. Think that’s something the club have done extremely well this season with how we’ve developed our reputation through the game in looking after loan players. I don’t know if we will be in for say Finn Azaz as an example but that must surely give us a better shot now of landing players of his calibre than we ever would have before.

Cautiously optimistic we will keep hold of all of Gibbo, Mal and Procs as well.

Not sure if Iv mentioned this, but I went corporate for the Exeter home game. As we were walking out through the main dining / conference room, Carol was presenting Kians grandad with a framed and signed vale shirt as a thank you for driving him down to sign for us on deadline day in January - I just think its wonderful the thought that goes into touches like these that make me so proud to be a Vale fan now - fantastic, just fantastic 👍👍👍👍

By the sounds of it they’ve made them offers already and there’s further negotiations going on over the coming weeks.

That is a cracking interview with DF, I am even more confident than ever that we will bring in the right players for this club and how long has it been since we heard that players actually want to come and join PVFC and also Premiership and Championship clubs want to deal with us,says so much for the club, the owners and the management team

We are so lucky

Love that interview with Flitters; makes you proud to be Vale.

As others have said, we're a completely different outfit to the sh!te thats gone before.

If i'm honest, I love reading this thread (and had one or two giggles along the way) but I really dont care who we sign and how or when.  I trust that Flitters and DC will get it right.

One of the interesting things from the interview was the Flitcroft says we're now making presentations to Premiership teams for loan players.  Love that, gives us a bigger and far better pool of players to fish in.

Bring on the new season; going to ask Ladbrokes for a price on finishing in the top 10 and stick a oner on it.

Those last few posts make absolutely brilliant reading.

What great people we have at the club now, from Carol & Kev, Rudgie, Garlick, Flitters, DC, AC, Whitehead, and all down through the coaching and playing staff, just wonderful stuff.

Finally, it's back to being a great time to be a Valiant, and looking forward to seeing how things develop over the coming weeks and months.

Up and up the Vale! 🤍🖤💛
