It's one thing playing Barrow and Harrogate with no TC, quite another to play Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich. A long tense summer ahead with strengthening in all departments required. This is going to be a huge step up in opposition and we need a squad to match it.

I don't agree.  Sheffield Wednesday, Ipswich and the like are in League 1 for a reason.  Sunderland have just spent 6 seasons there.  Basically, they're not doing very well, for whatever reason.  We are doing well and I'll be disappointed if we aren't pretty competitive in this league.

Very weird. Surely an UV mix-up? A proper Bruno signing.

Maybe they've been reading your posts and are pulling together a b team

That would be exceptional.

While the standard is massively different, Linfield have released Christy Manzinga. Who I believe is there top scorer from last season (20 odd goals from 40 appearances). Big strong tall striker who likes a goal or two

Saying that I remember vale were looking at Joel Cooper before he signed for the Oxford at the time. When he did finally come here he looked dreadful in his short cameos

Irish Premiership in NI is a semi pro league. Linfield are strong by their standards but I lived in NI and even their best stars are probably league 2 level. Taken as a whole, the league is probably weaker than the national league.

I doubt any player from that league would be good enough in league 1 these days.

I agree to a point. It seems many fans are happy with us just staying up but to compete higher up we will need a stronger squad.

I also think that if that happens we really can push on from this year and have another season at a sharp end. We certainly have the basis of a strong team.

What clubs often do is not push on after promotion and get mired in league 1 for years with the only exit for the clubs without bigger investment league 2 again. We should push on and add to what we have, rather than letting it all slip away and break up.

Any idea of the likely Season Ticket sales and average gates for next season to fund the push?
