If we want to replace Amoo as "game changer off the bench" I can't see many better candidates than Politic if he's available

Any news on his fitness progression, his 2nd season after a major injury ?  Not likely to be match fit with so little game time,

The difference is surely, that Kian Harratt is still only 19yrs old. Personally, I  would have been willing to take a punt.

The Vale made an offer, but the Terriers have different plans.

I think Politic was very consistent when he wasn't played as a central striker next to Dave Amoo/Ben Garrity in an injury crisis. Whenever he didn't play as a central striker, he was excellent.
Before he was thrust into a CF role from Walsall onwards (which was never going to work when partnered with midfielders out of position), he played 309 minutes (equivalent of 3.4 90s). He scored 4 and got 2 assists (have excluded Liverpool U23s where he scored 1 and got 2 assist). That's an absolute joke of a record. The lad barely started!
He basically flipped Orient, Barrow, and Burton by himself. We've got loads of consistent, steady performers but you need a big of magic to get somewhere.
In my view you get highly talented, game-changing 22yo's in the squad. There's no guarantee we play 352 forever. Think the discussion is immaterial as he'll want a crack at Serie A first - may kick on next season after settling into a new country.

How many minutes has he played in Italy ?

13

3 apps off the bench

9 times not in squad

7 times unused sub

Honestly,at 22 would you come over to the UK to play in L1 or stay in Italy with the likes of Juve, both Milan's,Roma etc etc and a chance to play?

I'd have loved him to stay because he was real quality but que sera sera

Politic was great for us. Changed games on a regular basis and scored some big goals. He might not fit into 352, but we have to have these kinds of players in the squad to change games and mix it up a bit. If I remember correctly he played up top at times for us and looked ok. No brainier for me, can win games by himself and would be a class signing. He’s still very young, I’d love us to sign him.

Are you saying there is literally nobody else out there better apart from Politic?

No, he literally says he can't see many better candidates in terms of game-changing from the bench.

As you say, it’s taking a punt.  Personally I’d rather Harratt than Politic but, as it seems we couldn’t guarantee him the game time, it looks like we’re going for better.  He suited the current system better, had no injury issues that we knew of and, at 19, more potential to develop.  If I had my rose tinted glasses on I wouldn’t see Dennis return, I’d hope Harratt makes great strides until Christmas and we see him returned to us by the Terriers in January.

I love Dennis, but as was pointed out above, in reality, how many would swap Italy premiership equivalent for Burslem League 1. His wage demands were also silly if I remember and the club were not prepared to break the wage structure (and I dont blame them)

probs the last time I will sing this -  Den Den Den Den Den Den Dennis Politic 😍

Bring in players that fit the system, now is the best chance to do that. There’s nobody currently under contract who doesn’t fit naturally into a position in the formation, that’s a fantastic place to be in. No more wingers, only wingbacks. They sound like a good idea for scope and options, but in reality they just take up space in the squad and get shunted into place to give them minutes.

I would sooner have a new player come in who has played a fair chunk of the season and not one who has played 13 minutes in Italy

Not sure if DC will change systems this coming season or not but you do need a wideman in the squad,i know we have Worrall but Jack Diamond had good reviews on loan at Harrogate from Sunderland.. either way i trust the management team to get targets pretty spot on,they haven't made that many mistakes yet tbf

Than Politic.

As a 22 year old impact sub who has been proven, in our system and with our players, to come on and make a difference and be within our budget. Yeah Politic.

Fair enough, we obviously fancied him given we apparently tried to buy him but we found in actual fact he wasn’t within our budget.

I’d sooner hope we’ve set our sights higher than going out to sign an “impact sub” myself.
