Vale Park Capacity

Recommended Posts

In the Sentinel the capacity was said to be 15,036. With 4,500 in the away end that's 10,536 home seats. However, I'm sure that as others have said with work on exits and turnstiles I would imagine that could be increased. I certainly still expect to see plenty of empty seats in the Railway today due to the reduced capacity.

Just to expand on my point. At the start of the season with crowds of 5-6,000 I'm sure the priorities were things like players, coaching staff and continuing to pay off the previous owner. Without those things we wouldn't be in the position now to push for promotion. Yes, it's a bit annoying on days like these that there is less capacity but the owners can't do everything at once.

I'd rather we be in this position of having no free seats because of the team's performances rather than them spending a fortune on the stadium last summer and having a poor squad that would not have put us in this position.

They are targeting the PA system this summer as that's a vital safety element so it may be that they can't do the work on the turnstiles and exits this summer but I would imagine it's certainly there on a long list of improvements. I'm also confident that unlike some former owners they will be working with the council to find out exactly what does need to be done to see every seat in the stands filled and the capacity increased. Realistically, we're not going to get 10,000+ attendances that often during seasons in either L2 or L1 so it's only an occasional inconvenience and one I am sure they will address given time.

The allowed capacity in the Railway Stand is just over 2,000. There are plenty of exits from the back of the stand but then everyone converges on one set of steps down to the bank. I don’t know if that’s the problem.

The word Carol kept using about the ground was “compliance”. Looks like we spent a number years ignoring the rules.

I think there's a way we fans can help too. If we can put everything we can into raising the £100,000 LS concourse money then that gives us 2,500 more brand-new seats, takes the home limit up to 13,000 and the overall capacity to 17,500. All that's done without any need to improve any of the older exits, turnstiles and stairways.

Unreserved seats is another reduction. Lack of seats has not been a problem since we became an all-seater stadium, but lack of maintenance has caught up with us. Increased income will cure that but not over night. Whether we could go fully reserved may depend on the ticketing system.

Could well be, it’s easy enough to install another path down the bank and to cut an exit through the wall, but obviously a cost involved.

Which stands have unreserved seating?

But twice in the last 2 weeks, 3 times if we don’t make automatic promotion.

Twice?  This is the first time in 32 years?

IF we play Sutton in the playoffs maybe the club might look into the Hamil situation.

Lorne st, Railway stand and paddock, sold out for Bristol game, and Bycars not far off.

But technically , yes first time in 32 years completely sold out.

Crazy capacity has been reduced by so much. To me it’s simple, 15000 seats should mean 15000 capacity, it’s not like the old terracing where I understand there maybe reduced capacity to avoid crushing. Why have empty seats when there is room in the stadium for them, we have the infrastructure outside the stadium. One seat per person, it’s H&S gone over the top again!
